Last week I attended http://re-publica.de/08/, a conference on the cultural and social aspects of Web 2.0. The theme of the conference was “Critical Mass – cultural and social aspects of the networked society”. The talks, panels and workshops the conference addressed the social and cultural impact of blogs, wikis, and social networks. It gave me an opportunity to immerse myself in the culture of net activism and to join in with debates surrounding the social implications of Web 2.0.
One thing I should make clear is that I AM NOT A TECHY. I’ve worked in “New Media” for a number of years, for startups and for major corporations, but always in project management roles. My aim with this blog is to talk about the issues being discussed in a more accessible way. I hope that my background will give me a different perspective to the activists, “netizens”, and other idealistic (mainly young) presenters out there.
